Step Up: Equity Matters was co-founded in 2014 by a collaborative team of people representing corporate, nonprofit, and small businesses. Since that time, the team has grown and our work has evolved, but we remain true to our original goal of advancing equity within organizations. Pictured above are co-founders (left to right) Amy Kesling, Haywood Simmons, Tania Ibarra, and Sara Alvarado.
Recognize how biases create inequities
Own our biases with compassion
Disrupt biases to foster inclusivity and equity
Step Up: Equity Matters is a movement for change. We believe the focus on equity will attract and retain diversity at all levels of the organizations from entry-level roles to the boardrooms. Equitable organizations don’t just welcome and appreciate diversity; they truly value it. As a result, our purpose is to improve organizational and individual capabilities to practice equity.
