In this episode of Real Stories, Step Up's Tania Ibarra interviews Alex Miranda Cruz, who shares his journey from being a child actor in Los Angeles to founding his own film production company, Bravebird.

Alex started professionally acting at age 8 and faced challenges with bias and typecasting throughout his career. Over time he began to realize, this isn’t just a Hollywood problem and this isn’t just a marketing problem..inequities are everywhere

“When I think about a lot of the inequity happening in our country, our states, our communities, something that keeps coming to mind is, ‘Who is going to fight for me? Who is going to be a voice for me?’ that is something that is severely lacking in a lot of these industries.”

Alex follows the methodology of “Cinema Dignité”, a term defining his empathetic and holistic approach to filmmaking. A lack of dignity in the entertainment industry inspired this mindset. He said, “I’m not going to make a film if I can’t treat people well.”
